The best historical fiction I ever read

I have yet to meet an avid reader who’s not excited to read a book about books. (How many of you are still scarred from a certain swamp-and-horse event in The Neverending Story?) And I’m certainly not a counter-example either. So when I found a book set in Nazi Germany about a little German girl who falls in love with books, I knew I had to have it.

The best sci-fi I ever read

In the past five weeks, I’ve been posting about the best 5 books of my adulthood, and I was (but also wasn’t) surprised that it was all fantasy. I mean, it makes sense since it’s certainly a genre that’s closest to my heart. At the same time, I feel like it gives a wrong impression of me reading only fantasy, which is certainly not true. What do you get when you take several ingredients, each delicious on their own, and combine them? Five of the six friends from Friends would have you believe that you get something to stay away from. (The famous Czech children’s story A Doggie and a Pussycat reaches the same conclusion.) So I don’t know if I’m being Joey, but this particular mixture works for me – and apparently also for the other 600 000+ people on Goodreads with an average rating of 4.25 at the time of writing.

My sister asked me last week if I’d put together a list of a few of my favorite books for her. I’ll be the first one to admit that I read a lot. My family, friends, librarians, and all the people I bumped or almost bumped into while readwalking will confirm. (Don’t forget – you’re not supposed to wake us up. It could get ugly.)
